Oral Examination

Part III of the IMPCB certification examination is an Oral Examination. Currently IMPCB is focusing only on Radiation Oncology Medical Physics, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiological Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physics.

  • The Oral exam is structured to test the candidate’s knowledge and competence to practice applied medical physics in the specialty under consideration.
  • There are three Oral Exam certification boards covering the three clinical medical physics specialties currently under consideration, namely: Radiation Oncology, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Each candidate will be examined by three or more physics examiners, each of whom will ask one or more questions from each of the physics categories of the examination.
  • The exam duration will be up to two and a half hours.
